Advanced Technology
Oklahoma Heart Institute combines the expertise of the state’s premier cardiologists, endocrinologists and cardiovascular surgeons with the latest in cardiovascular technology to provide superior care. For example:
- OHI is the first hospital in Tulsa to acquire and use the 64-slice cardiac CT for cardiovascular diagnostic imaging. As one of the world’s most advanced diagnostic instruments, it helps experts see evidence of coronary disease with remarkable clarity and accuracy.
- OHI was the first to bring cardiovascular MRI to Oklahoma; now we are proud to introduce the new Siemens 1.5T MAGNETOM Avanto. This dedicated cardiovascular MRI system uses the latest technology to improve patient throughput and image quality. In fact, it’s so effective that it can capture an image in the time it takes to hold a breath.
- OHI uses GPS equipment and 3-D technology in each of its six new cardiac catheterization labs to provide advanced imaging capabilities. This allows doctors to determine the actual size of blockages in the heart, enabling them to see even the tiniest vessels and better determine the correct size of stent to use.
- OHI is among the first hospitals in the nation to utilize new technology that makes recovery from open heart surgery safer and less painful. Co-developed by cardiovascular surgeon James Spann, MD, the Sternal Talon prevents painful post-operative movement and decreases the risk of infection.
Patient-Centered Amenities
Designed with input from physicians, nurses, patients and families, Oklahoma Heart Institute provides a family-oriented, healing environment. In addition to many of the amenities found in fine hotels, patients and visitors will enjoy all-private rooms featuring natural light, tranquil colors, and home-like furniture. Other features include free wireless Internet access and flat panel HDTVs. OHI also features the innovative Art of Healing program, which integrates music and art into the healing process.
A Recognized Leader
Oklahoma Heart Institute maintains high volumes in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and other areas – giving it an advantage over hospitals that treat fewer patients. National research confirms hospitals that treat higher volumes of patients with heart-related problems have better success rates.
