Knowledge is one of the most important weapons in the fight against diabetes. The Center for Diabetes Management at Hillcrest Medical Center was built on this belief.
Studies show that patients who understand diabetes and follow the treatments prescribed by their physicians live longer and have fewer complications than those who do not receive comprehensive diabetes education and self-care training. As the largest diabetes management program in Tulsa, the Center is dedicated to providing patients with the information and support needed to manage their disease.
Recognizing a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for everyone, the Center’s team of highly trained dietitians, nurses and specialists works with each patient to tailor a program that includes diet, exercise and medication to fit his or her lifestyle. Through group sessions and one-on-one support, patients learn the skills they need to take control of their diabetes and live healthier lives. In addition to seeing patients on the Oklahoma Heart Institute campus, the Center’s diabetes educators travel to Pryor, Owasso and South Tulsa to offer services. For more information, call (918) 579-3385 or (918) 574-9000 and ask for the Diabetes Center.
